Richmond have handled Collingwood a footballing lesson, well, apart from some shocking goalkicking, en route to a dominant nine-goal victory.

The Tigers led all day and probably should have won by a lot more, even though the Pies weren't much better in front of goal, but they did take it out 14.25 (109) to 7.13 (55).

Scotty Turner kept Saverio Rocca to just one goal.

The shoddy kicking at goal from both teams could somewhat be put down to some very blustery conditions at the MCG, however some efforts were truly awful and slightly tarnished what was otherwise a dominant performance from the Tigers.

Despite the opposing ladder positions at the time, Collingwood actually went into the match as favourites. Both teams though struggled to really gain the ascendency early on with some poor skills on show.

The Tigers kept the Pies goalless at quarter time and were in full control despite the poor kicking for goal, leading by 32 points.

The Pies did manage to fight their way back to a three-goal deficit at halftime, but it was one way traffic from there with Richmond kicking nine goals to four in the second half to romp home to a 54-point win.

Matthew Knights had arguably the best individual performance of a Richmond player for the season to date. Knights was instrumental through the midfield, his precision passing on a day where many struggled, really shone through and while his 23 disposals may have looked light on, on paper, they put his teammates in incredible positions to either score, or set up scoring opportunities.

His running mate Wayne Campbell was also at his very best with 28 disposals and a goal, while fullback Scott Turner did a wonderful job on spearhead Saverio Rocca, keeping him to just one goal while also repelling a number of Collingwood forward 50 entries.

Paul Broderick was also a key cog in the Tigers midfield with 22 disposals, and Stephen Jurica had a great bounceback game after a few lean weeks, taking Craig Kelly to the cleaners to kick four goals, but should have had more if not for some poor kicking on goal.

The win entrenched Richmond into the top four, with one round to go in the home and away season before an exciting finals series on the horizon.
